Bring the world's largest & longest-running tech competition for girls to your school.
Teachers and school play an important role supporting Technovation Edmonton. Teachers supervising a Technovation team:
facilitate time & space for teams to work on their projects - this can be part of class time, during spare periods, lunch breaks or after school
act as a communication liaison between the program volunteers and the team
can be a team mentor, but it is not necessary
Technovation Challenge is open teams of up 5 to girls aged 10-18, recruited from the same school or community group in the Edmonton Area. Each team must has a teacher or other supervisor assigned to facilitate their progress through the curriculum as outlined above, and to participate in all team meet-ups meetings (see below).
Each Technovation Chapter is run differently. In Edmonton, our season opens February 7, 2019 and runs through to the submission deadline on April 23, 2019. To cap off these season, we host a live pitch event in early May where teams can showcase their amazing work to family, friends, supporters, and their fellow teams.
How it works
Teams are paired with technology and business mentors from the community who help and guide you through the curriculum. Throughout the season, there are 3 all team meet-ups at NAIT. These meet-up are hosted on Saturday mornings, and provide an opportunity for the all teams and mentors to come together and support each other. During these meet-ups we host guest speakers to provide additional help & guidance.
